I want to do some welding and was wondering where I could get some of the cheap scrap steel.

Without knowledge of the nature, size or form of the metal you want I can give you some suggestions. I want to begin demolition in view of the directory to see if it is in your area. A few years ago, most metro areas have at least one, but now are more centralized. Second is all around junk yards.
